The Auction As A Last Resort

Your local storage facility wants to rent 100% of its available space to satisfied customers. They are not in the business of conducting auctions and have no interest or incentive to auction units. They just need to make space! There have always been a certain percentage of units that eventually go to auction to make space for a paying tenant. In tough economic times, the percentage of abandoned storage tends to rise. Without auctions, facilities would be left with numerous unrentable units. This could put the facility out of business and all their employees out of jobs.

Often these units, filled with such merchandise meant to be kept, become too much of a burden. People may ask, "What do we want it for? What will we do with it all?" Consequently, some renters simply let it go, which is not a choice the storage facility favors
