I see good ole Dave quite differently. I see Dave as an entrepreneur who is aggressive, savvy and is in the business, not to win a bunch of friends, but to make money. I have a regular buyer that is just like him. My buyer is not warm and fuzzy, but, we all respect him.

But the great thing about America is that we all are entitled to our opinions!

As Tom says, I completely agree with him.

He built up his empire as many would call it from NOTHING.

Not many people can say they built up their own strore, and action house trademarked their own "word" used on national tv and is on a very popular tv show millions watch.

Coming from the guy who spells a like he's in the second grade, it doesn't surprise me though.

Personally, I'm addicted to Storage Wars. My favorite are Jarrod and Brandi, and Barry. As for Darrell and Dave, I see them as people with crazy attitudes! Each of them, however, are very successful men. Consider what was said above...going from "nothing" to "something" is a huge success for anyone! Aside from his attitude and his repetitive "yuuuup!" I think he's a very smart man who won't go down with out a fight, which is another thing many people can't say.

And if you've noticed - he's never really negative about anything, he's optimistic. A great trait to have in a hit-or-miss business.

His knowledge and skill are mind-baffling and admirable - everyone has their quirks that are disliked by others. Not to mention, we only know his life as a buyer. We don't really know who he is, so we can't really conclude anything about him. :)

Dave Hester tries to be a bully. He over values everything he touches. He tries to act like he is the king of storage auctions, but I see him as a bridge burning fool. I look at other buyers as resources to be utilized, when possible and a possible outlet for certain items. I don't make friends with them, usually, but I don't believe in making enemies of them either.
I believe much of his testosterone facade is for TV. He is not tough, I guarantee it. Regardless, if he acts like that, off camera, someone is gonna hand him his........uh...head.
I cannot believe anyone would view him as anything but a putz. In one breath, he tells you he's all about business, and then, he goes into Infantile Mode, acting like a spoiled child, crying to get his way. Instead of making limits and sticking to them, he uses his money, to try to hurt other business people. Selfish little brat, if you ask me.

I don't really understand the whole 'I hate Dave' phenomenon. I wouldn't want to go head to head with him, and would probably be a little pissed if he cost me a locker or if I overpaid for it. However, he's running a business. Business is business, and he's ruthless - but he's also very successful, and I respect him for it.

As for the times I've seen him get angry I've always thought he was justified. Bless Barry's heart, but I would be upset with him as well, with some of the stuff he pulls. It makes great TV, but if someone brought a psychic or fake businessmen into my workplace and made a joke out of my job, I'd be more than a little peeved.

At any rate... I'm sure that for TV purposes, you only see the <bleep> part of Dave's personality, but I can't help but think I'd like him - and definitely pay attention and learn a few things - if I met him in person.

(That said, Brandi and Jarrod are still my favorites.) ;)

personally, when i first watched the show i thought dave was a real jerk. but as i watched more i came to realize that he is a business man. you may not like him but you always know where he stands. ive also realized that ive learned more from people like him than i have from others. dave is my favorite because if you have watched the show you see that much of his business sense was learned through goodwill and because of that he donates items back to goodwill. that speaks volumes about the man's character and in my book makes him legit.
